Overview

This course is for you if you are creative, imaginative and have an interest in filmmaking. You will learn to plan and create audio visual material in line with film industry practices. You will cover the essentials of lighting, planning, filming and editing, and you will work both in teams and individually on a variety of projects. This course provides good preparation if you are considering an Apprenticeship in the creative and design industries. When taken alongside additional Level 3 qualifications, it also supports access to a range of Higher Education courses in film and video production and the wider media industry.

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Mathematics.

This course is made up of five units:• Digital Media Skills• Film Production• Storyboarding for Digital Media or Scriptwriting• Single Camera Technique• Film Editing  

Learning happens in a variety of ways through classroom-based lessons, workshop activities, and independent study. The course requires a very high level of commitment and flexibility. You will be encouraged to experience a wide range of roles and responsibilities. As well as creating a film using professional standard media equipment you will also develop important life skills such as time management and effective teamwork.

One unit (Digital Media Skills) is externally assessed, all other units are coursework and will be assessed by your teachers.
