Overview

The Expressions Creative Programme is the course for you if you have an enthusiasm for the arts and are keen to extend yourself individually while working closely in a group. Active participation is essential to be successful on this course. As well as experiencing lessons in Drama, Dance, Music and Art, you will develop your independent life skills and abilities in English and Mathematics. You will also have the opportunity to take part in work related research or enterprise activities as well as weekly enrichment options. There will be opportunities to attend theatre trips, visits and workshops throughout the year and we are delighted to have forged close links with renowned organisations such as Blue Apple Theatre and Stopgap dance company, which includes working in partnership with their staff and students.

No formal qualifications or previous experience is required, but a good attitude to learning is important, as is a keen interest in the creative arts

On the Expressions Course you will: • Study the Creative Arts through practical lessons looking at all aspects including Dance, Drama, Music and Art • Have the chance to develop your performance skills through live performance opportunities, working alongside other students • Take part in workshops with teachers and students from Laine Theatre Arts, as well as with other external reputable Arts organisations • Have the opportunity to develop your employment skills through a work experience placement, preparing you for a more independent life • Develop your independent life skills and awareness of your local community.

You will be taught by a small team of teachers and classes will be supported by Learning Support Assistants. You will complete assignments to build a portfolio of evidence to achieve the Trinity College Arts Award (Discover and/or Explore). The assessments will consist of both practical and written tasks. As part of the course, you will be involved in various productions/performances demonstrating the skills you have developed during your time on the course.

You will generate a portfolio of evidence through different means.

You will be expected to provide your own stationery required for lessons. Any further costs are outlined below:Advisable: Trips throughout the year from £50 each.If the costs of equipment, materials and trips may cause you financial hardship, you may wish to read through details of our financial support scheme on our website.

Progression Students will be able to progress to a more vocational programme of study or a supported intern course to find a pathway toward a successful, independent adulthood.

“I owe the staff a lot and I wouldn't be where I am today without them.”

Tom Andrews, A Level Student

I’m really happy and pleased with my grades. I really loved my time at the college, I have also made lots of friends, it’s a really nice place to be, I don’t want to leave.

Lauren Piper, A Level student

My experience at the college was enjoyable and productive, with thoroughly helpful people surrounding you, an excellent experience. I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it was, with the work shop time and experience I had, it was a great two years preparing me for the next stage.

Edward Smith, BTEC student
